Me and my fellow University of Kentucky JET teacher are packed up and ready to leave from Nashville in the morning

Hello everyone! As some of you might have heard on Youtube, Facebook, or other sources, I was recently accepted into the JET Program and will be leaving to teach middle and elementary school students in Fukushima Prefecture for the next year or two (or three). It’s a very exciting opportunity for me to develop a deeper connection with Japanese people and culture and improve my Japanese skills for my future professional life as well. While I definitely will be busier, I don’t plan on giving up my translating hobby anytime soon. So as I continue to get better at Japanese you can look forward to better and more natural translations. 本当に頑張ります! During my time in Japan I will try to post about my experiences from time to time here on the blog alongside my translation work, so feel free to ask me about my Japanese experience, the JET program, or anything else if it interests you. I can’t promise anything but if any of you are in the area around Fukushima City, it would be nice to meet people as well. While it is always scary to leave home, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude to Japan, Japanese Culture, Vocaloid, and of course Miku-chan herself, who all played a role in bringing me to this point. I will definitely work hard to show my gratitude and give back by enriching the lives of all the students I meet.

A few years ago when I was wandering through college and unsure of what my future held for me, I never expected that seeing a mesmerizing, cute girl with a pretty voice performing a song called “World is Mine” in a language I didn’t understand at all would one day lead me down a path that has brought me closer and closer into contact with a wonderful country and culture that continues to motivate and intrigue me each and everyday. Thank you everyone for all your support so far and thank you even more for all your support in the future. I will continue to work hard to help promote Vocaloid Music and Culture and bring attention to all the wonderful producers and voices that have touched and transformed my life and the lives of countless others. これからもよろしくお願いします!
